The Baker’s Shoppe situated at 301 North Broadway in West Cape May is a quaint and charming bakery run by Gregg Hofferica who also owns a catering business called G&G Catering.

The Baker's Shoppe offers hand made breads (you gotta try their pepperoni bread YUM!) cakes, donuts, Danish pastries, cookies, muffins, biscuits, scones and so many enticing treats it is hard to walk into this cute shop  without buying something. The smell alone takes me back to Thanksgiving Day when I was a little girl. I can just image that this store has a wonderful aroma floating on the breeze in the early morning hours that must conjure similar memories for the neighborhood residents of holidays gone by, and I think how lucky the locals are to have a shop such as this. I ask Gregg if it is all made on the premise, and he tells me “everything is made by hand daily.” 

When I met with him yesterday he was creating his holiday order forms and said; “now is the time to start placing your orders for the upcoming holiday season.”

Being on a diet, the wonderful smells overwhelmed me and I can’t resist the sticky buns and the pepperoni bread. I break down, make my purchases and decide to treat our editorial department to my new favorite place on North Broadway. I bring the treats to our editor and he places them nicely on a plate. Slowly, I walk away to hear a few minutes later the accolades that I knew would be coming… “Has anyone tried the “Sticky Buns” they are the best I ever had.” Hey, try a piece of the Pepperoni Bread wow that is good!”

Hofferica has mastered the secret and the result is perfect. This bakery is where the chef bakes from the heart, and it shows at The Baker’s Shoppe in West Cape May.
