Habitat Handbook
Ahh, a new year, a fresh chance to lead a more organized, healthier all-around better life. And where else to start these improvements than the home? Surely there's a room (or five) that could benefit from some renewed attention. We'll show you how to cut clutter and help keep it away for good.
Series One
Clean your Scene
Did you know that January is “Get Organized Month” according to the National Association of Professional Organizers? Ahh, no I bet you didn’t. Don’t be embarrassed I wasn’t aware of it either. But if you have found yourself in constant search of the keys, tons of papers piled on the kitchen table, magazines covering the coffee table- all I can say is STOP the madness now and get organized. Even a small commitment to organization will help.
More Time, Less Stress
Getting organized isn't simply about aesthetics. It's about greater efficiency and, ultimately, more time to spend on things that really matter (instead of searching for the scissors for the thousandth time). "It really does work," says Jeff Sharr, professional organizer and owner of de-clutter, LLC. "It’s amazing how you will notice that you’ll get out of the door in 10 minutes instead of 30 when you are organized. It’s little habits that can make a difference”.
Start Small
Let’s face it, your home won’t look like a page out of “easyliving magazine” , but little changes can make a huge impact. Start small, it's that simple. See that nasty pile of papers on your desk – tackle it now, go on, just do it, just spend 15 minutes and don’t start another project until that one is completed .
Check back during the next two weeks for a series of ideas guaranteed to whip your home into shape for 2008. Until then-let’s hear how you are getting organized in 2008.
