Trace Elements

Well, guess you are all wondering or maybe not-who knows, who cares right? Just for your information - "what happens in AC, stays in AC". Kidding of course. What happened on Saturday, happened to an arena full of die hard country fans when Trace Adkins hit the Trump Taj Mahal, once again working for The Donald.

With backstage passes in tow my co-worker, Jodee and I walked with great anticipation to meet this quiet gentle giant. Adkins who stands and pretty much commands attention at 6'6" greeted about 50 people into the Trace VIP Lounge Me and Trace- hunk a hunk of burning love where we had the opportunity to ask questions and then take photos. Some asked Adkins about his appearance on the Celebrity Apprentice show, which frankly, let's think on that name for a moment - "Celebrity Apprentice" - if they are celebrities - do they really need advise from the Donald? I'm thinking not, but that is a whole other blog. In any event, we had the opportunity to ask dumb questions, but Trace was nevertheless, cordial, engaging, entertaining and a very down to earth man. He's seems like the kind of guy you don't want to mess with in a bar, but would rather hang out with-just in case there's trouble. Seems like he has seen his share of bar room brawls, broken tons of bones, and has even been shot at "by his ex wife". He is a survivor of the most quintessential  type - the still waters run deep type and has a work ethic only our fathers know. He confessed at the backstage lounge that he misses the simplicity of life and that he'd be back in the oil fields because it is "good decent hard work, but I love my dedicated country fans."

He's as passionate for his country as he is with his music and sings tributes to the American Man, the Armed Forces and well, some other songs that are just downright funny and very catchy.

Adkins is also a new author of "A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions From a Freethinking Roughneck" (Villard, $23.95)

One thing that I did learn and hear in his music - he is a plain spoken man whose mantra seems to be, "don't say nothin' you can't take back."
