In memory of a friend

Over the past couple of years I had not seen him, but would think of him often. In fact, the last time I saw him was in the hallway of my old employer’s building – it was my last day, I was let go. He never called to see how I was doing, but his wife did – I appreciated her for doing that, but it seemed like that was their relationship – she made up for his short comings. Sad really.

Our working relationship started in 2004 when I took a job at another newspaper writing feature stories. We immediately hit it off; I was the older sister influence and I think he liked my honesty and felt at ease with himself around me – or at least I’d like to think so. There wasn’t any pretense, it was just a comfortable working relationship. He could act like a clown, and make me laugh, or he could change in a minute and be forever the professional. For the most part, I thought Dennis was brilliant and had vision beyond his youthful looks. On one hand, he was an old soul, on the other; he was a character. I owe a lot to him, I learned a lot about this business from him. Thank you my friend.

Last night, a mom and dad lost their son, siblings lost their brother, a wife lost her husband, children lost their dad, and we lost a friend.

There isn’t much to say when a friend that is so full of life passes on in a tragic accident other than, rest in peace my friend. Be with us in spirit and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to know you in this life time.

My heartfelt condolences go out the the Hall family today for the lost of their son Dennis.
